Better than the Naked palette? | Stila In The Light palette

I recently picked up the Stila In The Light Palette whilst in Boots and I haven’t put it down since I bought it - in all honesty I think its better than the original Naked palette from Urban Decay *gasp*. The palette contains ten neutral toned eyeshadows, four are matte and six are shimmery.
My biggest problem with the naked palette is the lack of basic matte shades, there’s only two in total with Naked being a light brown and Buck being a darker brown however I find that Naked is too cool to be a good transition shade and Buck is too dark to be a transition shade but too light to add impact which meant I always had to reach for other shadows. The Stila palette contains a warm light brown in the shade Bliss which is perfect as a transition shade or to add a little something to the crease for a natural day and Sandstone is the perfect dark brown to add extra drama. The Stila palette also contains a matte black shadow called Ebony and a matte flesh toned eyeshadow called Bone - which is great as a base or a subtle highlight - which are two other basic shades the Naked palette lacks.

Moving into the shimmer shades, like the Naked palette nearly all of the shades are very warm toned which really suits a warmer completion like mine but generally looks great on everyone. Kitten is one of Stila’s most famous eyeshadow shades and is perfect as an inner corner highlight, its comparable to Sin from the Naked palette - which is a shade I have completely used up. Bubbly is a medium gold shade which I love as an all over lid colour both for smokey eyes and on more natural days. Gilded gold is one of my favourite shades in the palette and is very comparable to Smog from the Naked palette. I love to pack this all over the lid and blend out the edges as a really quick and easy smokey eye. Sandstone is a beautiful copper colour which I like to use in the same way as Gilded gold, it’s perfect for the colder months paired with a berry lip. Night sky is a dark grey/blue colour which is very similar to Gunmetal from the naked palette.

Personally I only use four of the shades from the Naked palette on a regular basis - those being Sin, Smog, Toasted & Hustle - whereas after playing around with the Stila palette I can say I use nine on a regular basis - Night sky being the one I don’t reach for as often.
Along with the shade range in the Stila palette the shadow quality is amazing too. The Urban Decay shadows tend to change in texture, blendabilty and pigmentation from shadow to shadow however all of the Stila shadows are equally as soft, pigmented and blendable as each other. The Stila palette is also a fair bit cheaper than the Naked palette too at £25 with the Naked palette sitting at £37.
